A study-ready room, just renovated and furnished with serious grad or undergrad student (or WSU staff) in mind, is currently available on the first floor of my quaint 4-bed, 2-bath house a short 10 minute walk to WSU. The room is about 10' x 13', with a small walk-in closet about 2' by 6'. The house is near the bike trail, gorgeous jogging paths, Main Street shops and several big parks. Best location in Pullman for students without a vehicle. Flexible monthly rental with free high-speed WiFi, laundry, and access to expanding organic vegetable garden. Owner does regular hygienic cleaning so you can spend your time studying. Quiet, verdant cul-de-sac with cliff-top view of College Hill, and deer and other wildlife. House and soundproofed rooms are quiet and secure, with triple locks on heavy, solid-core doors, and Police HQ within three blocks. Owner-occupied, so no bullying property managers or greedy absentee owners who impose unexpected fees, leave problems unaddressed, and force you into joint and several liability with other housemates. No problems with other house mates over cleaning chores. We carpool to Moscow from time to time for affordable groceries and other shopping not available in Pullman. House and yard improvements are ongoing.
The house is co-ed: Both men and women are welcome. At present, one of the upstairs rooms is occupied by a female undergrad. Owner takes great care to ensure ladies' security and privacy. Thus in principle, ladies and gents are based in different bathrooms, but use is flexible, as when the shower in one's 'home' bathroom is in use.
Monthly rent is $550 plus 1/4 of the Avista bill. All other expenses, including household consumables, are paid by owner. Common areas include bathrooms, kitchen, library, porch, vegetable plots and soon, hopefully, a back patio or lawn. Students without a vehicle please know that you can easily walk or bike to campus, and I'm always here 24/7 to provide a free ride in any emergency.
Honest, mature, sociable, hygienic, tidy, drug/smoke-free, hard-studying applicants welcome. I assume all applicants are honest but since I can't read minds must ask for solid evidence of good character and sound finances, whether self or parental support. Portable credit reports are welcome. Sorry, no pets, but local wildlife is plentiful and friendly. Particularly welcome are people who understand that the Golden Rule is the key to minimizing the few limitations while maximizing the many benefits of cooperative living. People who enjoy discussing various interesting subjects in a mature and civil manner are particularly welcome. A keyboard and guitar are available for those who play. Live-in owner is retired legal and financial translator recently returned to the U.S. after 37 years in Japan. I read, write and speak Japanese and some Chinese, am a vegan and an avid biker and jogger. When responding, please provide a brief description of your student and working status, your daily routine, lifestyle preferences and needs. Thanks for your interest.
