Outdoor/Recreation in Greensboro, NC

Piney Lake is a popular destination for UNC Greensboro students. On the weekends, the University’s recreation center provides a shuttle service that takes you to and from there. Here, you can swim, kayak, hike, and participate in many other great activities. Each semester, students partake in the real-life version of the game Zombies vs. Humans, a popular campus-wide event that takes place inside and outside all around. Everyone is encouraged to join in!

The city of Greensboro is filled with tons recreational and outdoor activities! A popular place to walk and see monuments is the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park. Visitors step into a piece of history and pay tribute to this Revolutionary battlefield. During the warmer months, walking about outside and seeing the beautiful gardens at the Tanger Family Bicentennial Garden and The Greensboro Arboretum is always a nice way to relax and take a break from the stresses of school.

Things To Do in Greensboro, NC

Greensboro is North Carolina’s third largest city, so you can bet students have a good number of things to keep them occupied year long! UNC Greensboro students have a lot to looking forward to during the school year. From Spartapalooza to cheering on the Spartans at any given sports event, you can easily get into the school spirit at UNC Greensboro!

When they’re not in class, students often head off-campus to explore the city of Greensboro. Tate Street is a popular place to hang out, grab a bite, and explore the unique shops. For concerts, try checking out The Blind Tiger or the Greensboro Coliseum, which also is home to the University’s basketball team. For any history or science lovers, be sure to pay a visit to the Civil Rights Center, Greensboro Science Center, or the Greensboro Historical Museum. The City also has a wonderful transportation system and students can easily take the bus to the movies and the nearby Friendly Shopping Center. The University even provides a shuttle on the weekends that transports students to beautiful Piney Lake, a wonderful weekend getaway!
