When To Start Searching For UTC Apartments & Houses

If you’re wondering when you should start the search for off-campus housing near the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, the answer is “It depends.” Many students start searching for houses near UT Chattanooga in October and November, so if living in a house is at the top of your wishlist, we suggest starting your search before you leave for winter break. 

That being said, most students choose to live in off-campus apartments near the UTC campus. These places tend to fill up a little slower, so you’ll most likely be able to find something that suits you throughout the spring semester.

Life at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga

The UTC campus and the city of Chattanooga offer plenty of opportunities for some after-school fun. When they’re not in class, students at Chattanooga like to stay active by utilizing school facilities like the ARC’s swimming pool or rock wall. Among the most popular, The Nightfall Concert Series is held annually and brings both local and national bands to Miller Stage every Friday night from May to August. It’s always free to attend and it’s one of the most popular things to do in the summer! Similarly, the CAB plans a number of events throughout the school year for students on campus. 

If you’ve got a dollar to spend, many students head to downtown Chattanooga on nights and weekends. The streets are lined with enough shopping, dining and music options to suit every style and taste. The downtown area is also home to a variety of attractions including the Tennessee Aquarium, the Creative Discovery Museum and more.

Things to Do in Chattanooga, TN

Commonly named one of the best outdoor cities in the country, Chattanooga is an objectively beautiful campus. Rivers, mountains, waterfalls, you name it, Chatanooga has it all. Accessible near the Tennesse Aquarium downtown, the Chattanooga Riverwalk stretches for over 13 miles down the Tennessee River. It’s the perfect spot to bike, hike or simply take in some fresh air after school. Similarly, the city of Chattanooga has several other outdoor tourist attractions such as Sunset Rock, Ruby Falls, and Signal Mountain.

If you’re looking to get involved on campus and you’d prefer to do it outside, be sure to check out UTC Outdoors, the University’s official recreation club. Members have the option to participate in various trips and outdoor activities like kayaking, bike cruises, and waterfall visits. They even offer equipment rentals if you’re in need of some gear after hours.
