We hope you're comfortable planning a year ahead, because it'll become more difficult to find a place after October and November pass. You can blame all of this on some very ambitious students who really know where they want to live or landlords who send out renewals early and kick the season off.

College requires a lot of celebrating. For example, you made it to an 8 A.M. class. That's a big deal! Cooking also requires skills you may not have or could care less to have. You're probably looking in your fridge and disappointed to only see some cereal and month old milk. We recommend eating well and celebrating at the same time with some of the best places in West Lafayette:

  • Where Else
  • The Neon Cactus
  • Harry's Chocolate Shop
  • Jake's Roadhouse
  • Roxy's

There's a rumor that some say The Neon Cactus has the cheapest drinks and others say Where Else does. We'll leave the tedious task of figuring that out to you. If your budget is suffering by Friday, Jake's Roadhouse has some free hotdogs for your nightcap.

Indiana's prairie style terrain can be ideal for a long run or even a bike ride. One place you need to stop by is Prophetstown State Park; they have 2200 Acres of prairies with paved and unpaved trails. We don't want to take all the surprise away from exploration, but you can find an Aquatic Center at the State Park as well.

Not far from West Lafayette you can explore some outdoor history at the Tippecanoe Battlefield. If you don't feel like traveling, Slater Hill on Purdue's Campus can be a great place to relax outdoors with occasional music.

If you want to jump into any outdoor adventure you can sign up for activities planned by Purdue's Outing Club.

Things to Do

You won't find a shortage of things to do with your time while attending Purdue. If you're looking to find your crowd there are plenty of campus organizations with similar interest as well.
