There are tons of recreational activities to get into on campus. The MTSU rec center includes a fitness center, indoor soccer field, basketball courts, rock climbing wall, and an indoor/outdoor pool. If you’re an outdoorsy person joining the Outdoors Pursuits Program is the move for you. Enjoy activities like canoeing, rafting, caving, and biking with fellow students. They even have field trips you can sign up to go on like skiing/snowboarding in Steamboat Colorado or going to Scotland for a backpacking adventure. Head off-campus and visit the famous Civil War battlefield at Stones River National Park. With so many parks nearby students will head off-campus to fish and boat. Back on campus, there are plenty of grassy areas where you can meet up with friends for a picnic or game of catch between classes.

Like most college campuses, sports are a big deal at MTSU! Be a part of the Blue Zoo and cheer on the Blue Raiders at your favorite sporting event. Whether it be basketball or football you can bet these games are going to be packed so arrive early and tailgate with friends. Students receive discounted and sometimes even free tickets to sporting events. If sports aren’t really your thing, there are tons of other activities to do on campus. The student union is a popular hangout spot where you can join in on games of pool and ping-pong. MTSU offers over 250 different student organizations, whether it be debate club or racquetball there is something for everyone. On campus, be sure to take advantage of the several FREE events like concerts, comedy shows, carnivals, and even exotic animal expos. Students often times head off-campus to one of the nearby bowling alleys or laser tag arenas to play with friends. Nashville is close, so take a weekend and head there for some fun!
