Things To Do On & Off-Campus

Students living in Augusta are always finding ways to have fun in this small college town! From joining on-campus clubs, playing games in the Jaguar Student Activities Center, and attending Jaguar sports games, it seems that nearly every student on campus is participating in some way or another; staying active and getting involved is big at AU! So grab your friends and head to a game, toss a frisbee on the outdoor plaza, or head to the Maxwell Performing Arts Theatre and take in a concert or theater performance. 

Off-campus, students can conveniently walk to Augusta Riverwalk, a popular area just east of Augusta University. This area is filled with a combination of shops, restaurants, bars, and other fun activities for students to get into. Here, they also hold events like First Friday where you can check out local art and browse the Augusta Market at the River every Saturday. If you’re a golf fan, then you already know Augusta is home to The Master’s tournament, and you too can set up a tee time at the Augusta National Golf Club. Some other points of interest include visiting the Morris Museum of Art (free on Sundays), biking the Augusta Canal National Heritage Area, wildlife watching at the Phinizy Swamp Nature Park, or catching a show at the Imperial Theatre.

The Augusta University Wellness Center is a very popular spot for students to engage in several activities with one another. Augusta is located near the Savannah River and several parks like Phiniziy, so AU students are no strangers to the outdoors. To escape the stresses of school and clear their heads, students head to the many parks for a breath of fresh air. AU students can also obtain Kayak and Georgia State Park passes for free on a first come first served basis! Kayaking, biking, or just walking the trails and setting up a hammock to relax are favored pastimes of students.
