When to start looking for UIUC Apartments & Houses

For students who are counting down the days until they can get out of the dorms (and away from their weird roommate) we have one question for you: Have you started your UIUC housing search yet? Most students start the hunt for apartments and houses for rent in Champaign, IL early in the Fall semester. Some students even have their UIUC housing locked down by the end of September!

While that may sound a little overkill, those students who signed in September had a good reason to start their search early - they were avoiding competing against thousands of other students who start hunting in October and November for houses and apartments near UIUC for the following school year.

If a little competition doesn’t scare you, you can wait to start your search until the end of October. But, don’t let yourself go home for Thanksgiving break without having toured a couple of UIUC apartments or houses - once it hits December, a good chunk of the apartments and houses for rent in Champaign, IL will be off the market.
