Things To Do in Pueblo, CO

Colorado State University-Pueblo is located in the picturesque town of Pueblo and is surrounded by stunning mountains. Even for a “small town”, there’s plenty to get into both on and off-campus! There are nearly 100 clubs and organizations students can join on campus. From lacrosse to hip hop dance or chess, it seems students are participating one way or another. There are a ton of different music, theatre, and dance performances as well as high-profile art exhibits held at the Capozzolo Center for the Art to observe in your free time. On Gamedays, students like to cheer on the Thunder Wolf at the Massari Arena or in the Thunderbowl Stadium. Be sure to show up to games early decked out in your gear ready to tailgate!

As much fun as getting involved on campus is, sometimes you need a getaway from school to take a day for yourself and go enjoy everything that Pueblo has to offer! Colorado is known for its outdoor beauty, so get outside and enjoy some of the popular nearby parks and trails, such as the Rock Canyon Broken Hip Loop, Stonehenge and Rock Canyon, and Skyline trails! Or you could visit Lake Pueblo, San Isabel National Forest, and the Pueblo Zoo. The town is full of different museums to explore, like the Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum and the Rosemount Museum, just to name a few. Downtown, a highlight for students is walking along the Historic Arkansas Riverwalk to grab some food or go to the many events held there.

Outdoors/Recreation at CSU Pueblo

If you’re looking to stay active without going too far, visit the ThunderWolf Student Recreation Center right on the CSU Pueblo campus. Here, students can go for a swim at the aquatics center, rock climb, join one of the many intramural or club teams like badminton or soccer, work up a sweat in the gym or join in on a personal one-on-one or group fitness class.

The Recreation Center provides CSU Pueblo students several ways to stay active and engage with one another outside of the classroom through their Outdoor Pursuits program. Connect with peers and embark on one of the several group activities and trips throughout the year, ranging from a few hours on the campus challenge, an afternoon of dog sledding, or a weekend getaway to the Wolf Creek Ski Area. If you prefer to go at it alone or with some friends, head to the equipment room and rent all the items you need like tents, fishing gear, mountain bikes, snowshoes, skis, and more!
