Howe Place Apartments (5.0)

Located on the edge of the Yale campus, is the Howe Place Apartments. Residents living at Howe Place will be within walking distance of not only campus but the Yale shuttle bus, restaurants, museums, and shopping. “Howe is by far the most beautifully maintained and the apartments are gorgeous!”

Jeffrey raves about the 1920s building with modern day updates. Howe Place offers tenants several different floor plans ranging from studios to two-bedroom units. Annie said, “I really could not imagine a better place to be renting. All service requests have been filled promptly, all the facilities are well kept and the location is perfect,”  while Kelly said, “We enjoyed our 2 years at Howe Place Apartments immensely. They do a wonderful job taking care of the building and I recommend people to live there all the time.”

 

The Wm. M. Hotchkiss Company (4.9)

The Wm. M. Hotchkiss Company has been doing it all in the real estate world for over 107 years! Hotchkiss Company are “good people,” and have a “wonderful staff.” Keep these guys in mind when looking while searching for you off-campus housing!

 

College and Crown (4.8)

Smack dab between the main Yale campus and the Yale School of Medicine are are the College and Crown Apartments. Resident Kat says, “Since the very beginning, the entire staff and crew have been some of the most fantastic, helpful, and accommodating individuals. Whenever I’ve had questions or concerns with anything in regards to my apartment or the building, I have been helped right away. The location and amenities of C&C are second to none, and all of my friends comment how amazing my building is every time they visit. I feel very lucky to be living here – it’s truly one of the best apartment buildings in downtown New Haven.”

Residents will have the choice of one, two, and loft-style apartment units each with walk-in closets and tall 8’ ceilings. Some great community amenities include a fitness center with yoga studio, courtyard with grills and dining area, and bring your furbaby because they’re pet-friendly.

I couldn’t ask for a better place.”

Some other unbeatable amenities include indoor club lounge, concierge service, dry-cleaning service, and cinema room. Anne said, “After living in several different apartments in New Haven, I’m happy to be home at The Novella. Everyone who works here is extremely nice,” While Thomas says, “Very special place, love living here.”

 

Cambridge Oxford Apartments (4.2)

Just steps away from Yale University are the Cambridge Oxford Apartments. Made up of two buildings, The Cambridge and The Oxford, tenants can choose floor plans between studio to four-bedroom units. One resident exclaimed, “I lived in The Cambridge for several years and I was overall very, very pleased living there. The management was OUTSTANDING-problems were fixed immediately and they were wonderful!”

Come car-less because you’ll be conveniently located near tons of shops, restaurants, and nightlife. Cambridge Oxford also includes great amenities like a 24-hour gym, dry cleaning valet, laundry room, and a resident lounge with study space. After looking into this apartment community we get why one resident said they, “Would recommend Cambridge Oxford to anyone of my friends/family looking for a place in New Haven and I certainly recommend it to anyone on this site searching.”

 

Winchester Lofts (4.2)

Less than a mile away from Yale University, you’ll find the newly restored Winchester Lofts. “The Winchester Loft apartments are beautiful and modern. They’ve done a stunning job renovating the old Winchester Factory in a way that preserves a sense of history and aesthetic while making the space livable. The amenities are excellent, and the staff is extremely friendly,” says one resident.

The community features a clubroom, game room, media room, and fitness center for tenants. Pets are welcome and you can pamper your pooch at the on-site pet spa. Winchester Lofts are centrally located near all the best restaurants, bars, and shops New Haven has to offer. One resident says that “Everyone that works here is super helpful and wonderful. The apartments are wonderful, clean and fairly quiet. Everyone that lives here seems pleasant and we haven’t had any issues. For the area, the prices are fair and I would definitely recommend this building to others!”

 

The Chelsea Company (4.1)

The Chelsea Company is owned and operated by Yale alumni, Ardelle, so you can bet she knows what students are looking for when choosing off-campus housing. With 245 units and 11 different buildings, students can find the perfect place that fits their taste without burning a hole in their pocket. Each of their units is constantly being renovated, and you can save the hassle of moving because some units will come fully furnished!

One resident said, “I lived there for a year and have nothing but great things to say about it.  I would definitely recommend this apartment complex to people who are interested in living in downtown New Haven, in a nice, updated place, without paying a fortune.” No matter which apartment complex you choose to live in, you’ll be in a prime location with a 5-10 minute walk to campus, shops, and eateries. Take the advice from one resident who, “has nothing but positive opinions,” and “tour some of their units and give them a try.”

 

360 State Street Apartments (4.1)

Live in highrise luxury at the 360 State Street Apartments. Built for “green” living, 360 State Street is New Haven’s second tallest building offering tenants fully furnished units for a hassle free move. “The staff is courteous and professional. The concierge personnel are fantastic, they always greet me by name! Work orders are completed within a couple of hours of reporting a problem. The property is extremely well-maintained. the manager is very responsive,” said one resident.

Lydia raved, “I loved my time here!  Super friendly staff, gorgeous views from the front room, free coffee in the morning downstairs and just a great experience. Very close walk to everything in new haven and if you forgot something at the grocery store you can just go downstairs to elm street market.” Beyond all those great perks, the community offers a heated outdoor pool, fitness center, and a rooftop terrace. Conveniently, residents will be less than a mile away from the Yale campus and extremely close to highways and bus stops.
